Jorrit & Clemens present paper at 13th HEIRS Conference

Jorrit Steehouder and Clemens van den Berg will present a paper on the Freiburger Kreis at the 13th History of European Integration Research Society (HEIRS) Conference in Luxembourg. In their paper “A Wartime Narrative of Hope: the Freiburger Kreis’ 1943 Denkschrift as a Blueprint for Europe” they aim to explicate how spiritual and moral dimensions, or pre-political values, underlie the political and economic principles that shaped Europe. Specifically, it reflects upon both the role of Christian churches and the role of a social market economy in the post-war era.
