with dr. Karen Donfried

Please register here to participate.

What is it like to work at the White House and advise the President on Europe? What is the American perception of Europe? How important is Europe in United States foreign policy making? And likewise, how important is America (and all that it stands for) in the eyes of Europeans, both now and in the past? On 25 April the Utrecht Centre for Global Challenges (UGlobe) is proud to host Karen Donfried for a masterclass on the past, present and future of transatlantic relations.

During the masterclass, which will be chaired by prof. Duco Hellema, we will touch upon issues such as the place and nature of the US-European relationship in the present-day multipolar world order, security issues, foreign policy strategies.

Karen Donfried is the President of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMFUS) in Washington DC, and is an expert on US-European relations. Before that, she was President Obama’s principal advisor on Europe and the senior director for European affairs on the National Security Council at the White House.
