Lecture Wolfram Kaiser – Clash of Cultures: Transnational Governance in post-war Europe
Lecture by prof. dr. Wolfram Kaiser
Prof. Dr. Wolfram Kaiser is professor of European Studies at Porthsmouth University (United Kingdom). He is well-known for his work on transnational Christian democratic party networks in European integration. Recently, he published an edited volume with Richard McMahon on the “clash of narratives” on European integration.
In his lecture, Wolfram Kaiser will reflect on the evolving nature of the governance of European integration as the result of a continuing “clash of cultures.” He will adress the development of and interaction and tension between technocratic internationalism, neo-corporatist cooperation and supranational parliamentary democracy in shaping the present-day EU.
The lecture will take place in the Sweelinckzaal at the Drift 21, Utrecht University. To register, please send an e-mail to Martijn Kool (m.kool@uu.nl). The lecture will start at 15:30 hours, but the doors are open from 15:00 hours, and we gladly welcome you with coffee and tea. Afterwards there will be drinks.
