Canon William Wallace Judd was born in Hamilton, Ontario, graduated at Trinity College in Toronto and became a parish priest and served as Secretary of the Council for Social Service of the Church of England in Canada.

Judd devoted his life to lobby for the Christian principles in Canadian policies. Judd became active in the ecumenical movement and was inspired by his British mentor William Temple to relate Christian principles to the social order. Judd was also active in international fora and was often invited to speak on behave of the Christian Community in Canada, notably at the International Roundtables of the Commission of Just and Durable Peace in 1943 and at the International Conference of Church Leaders on the Problems of World Order in Cambridge (UK) were the CCIA was created. Judd’s social action continued after the Second World War ended: as a member of the Canada’s Council for Social Services, he contributed to studies of post-war peace plans, including programmes to reform education, labour, and capital.
