Alexander Loveday was a British economist, who lectured political philosophy and economics in Leipzig, Oxford and Cambridge. He joined the British War Office from 1915 to 1919. At the League of Nations, Loveday was Director of the Financial Section and Economic Intelligence Service from 1931 to 1939 and Director of the Economic, Financial and Transit Department from 1939 onwards. He authored many articles on international economic cooperation and published a piece on the European Movement in International Organization in 1949. He also was member of the Executive Committee of the Economic League for European Cooperation (ELEC). He participated in the Congress of Europe in 1948.
