Dennis Alan Routh was a British ecumenist who was active in the World Council of Churches. Together with J.H. Oldham, George Bell and other ecumenical figures, Routh worked on ‘The Future of Europe’ draft public statement while participating in the discussions of the Peace Aims Group (PAG). As a member of PAG, Routh expressed his view that a political and social organisation had to go beyond national units, and wanted the peace talks to include a vision of future Europe that surpassed the world order of the past. He also considered a Soviet victory to be disastrous for the West and advocated for a renewal of solidarity between Western nations against the Soviet Union. The basis for this solidarity would be Christianity. Routh was also a member of the Religious Division at the British Ministry of Information (MOI).
