Hilan Batcheller was the president of Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Corporation, one of the biggest steel corporations in the United States. He headed the Capital and Durable Goods subcommittee of the President’s Committee on Foreign Aid in 1947, and gave testimonies before the U.S. Senate and House committees tasked with legislating the Marshall Plan.
