René Courtin was a Protestant professor at the university of Montpellier and a member of the French Resistance in Vichy territory. After the war he became professor at the Paris Law Faculty and was one of the founding members of the newspaper ‘Le Monde’. In 1947, Courtin was one of the founders of the European Movement.
