Headed or was member of a number of farm agencies during the 1930s and early 1940s, including Truman’s Famine Emergency Committee, the New York State Food Commission, and the National Agricultural Advisory Commission. When he served the President’s Committee on Foreign Aid in 1947, he was the Dean of the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
