Long Range Peace Objectives
John Foster Dulles, chairman of the Commission on a Just and Durable Peace instigated by the Federal Council of Churches of Christ in America in December 1940, wrote a pamphlet criticizing the Atlantic Charter, an eight-point declaration by President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Winston Churchill, which laid out the common strategy by both countries in international politics. Commenting on the eight points consecutively, Dulles’s blueprint mainly criticized the lack of a prospect for a global federal structure of government to succeed the failed League of Nations. In such an organization, smaller federations or unions of states, such as the USA or a federalized Europe, should be incorporated, according to Dulles and the CJDP.
