Vorschläge für eine europäische Neuordnung

This anonymous blueprint, likely hailing from the Kreisau Circle and in that case probably written by Von Trott, outlines the creation of a European commonwealth of nations after the example of the British Commonwealth. Distinctive for the time in which it was written, when German aristocrats generally still resented the British for the punitive nature of the Versailles Treaty of 1919, this blueprint explicitly wants to include the Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland in the European commonwealth. Yet, it also speaks of the borders of federal states in this commonwealth as defined along ‘etnographical’ lines, meaning, for Germany, that it would not have to part with annexed territories in Austria and Czechoslovakia.
