Ole Bjørn Kraft was a Danish politician of the Conservative People’s Party (Konservativen Volkspartei). In 1945 he became Minister of Defense and from 1950-1953 he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. From 1952 to 1953, Kraft was Chairman of the NATO Council of Ministers.
As member of the Danish Committee of the European Movement he participated in the Congress of Europe in 1948. A spokesman of the Danish Conservative Party, Kraft was in favour of the Marshall Plan and the Council of Europe. From 1949 until 1950 and then from 1954 until 1964 he was a member of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe. He also joined the Ecumenical Commission for European Cooperation, and though his contribution to its meetings and publications have been limited, he was the only Danish member of the group initially.
